THOUGHTS ON GIVING Trinity Sunday “God so loved the
world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.” John 3:16
How do you say “thank you” to the God who has given
His only Son to us? What can you give back in return? A life of stewardship is the only way to truly show your love and appreciation to God. A life of stewardship is a life of giving back
time, talent and treasure to God.

THOUGHTS ON GIVING Pentecost “There are different kinds of
spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; there are different forms of service but the same Lord; there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone.” 1 Corinthians
12:4-6
The Spirit gives each of us different gifts. The reason we are given those gifts is so that we may perform different forms of service for the Lord. If you don’t use your
gifts for the Lord, who will do the special work that God had in mind for you alone?

“
SIGN-UP SUNDAY” In an
effort to promote the mission and teachings of the Church, the Bishops created the Connecticut Catholic Conference Advocacy Network. The purpose of the Network is two-fold. First, it helps to
educate Catholics on current social issues, which it does by sending informational email bulletins to its members. Secondly, to alert members about legislative issues which are being considered at
the State and Federal level and are of concern to the Catholic community. Sign up by visiting www.ctcatholic.org. All info is confidential and is not shared with any other organization. _____________________________

In Our Lord’s

teaching the children and using our gifts to carry on the work of the Lord.

This weekend our parish family is called upon to support the work of our Diocesan Church in fulfilling the Mission of our Good Shepherd, Jesus
Christ. Through our support of the ABA, we serve those in need in our communities. Our support will also provide programs that meet pastoral and spiritual needs that will enhance Jesus’
Mission. At Mass today, we will be collecting all gifts made to the 2008 ABA. If you did not bring your completed pledge card, the Ushers will be distributing extra gift envelopes during the
presentation. Thank you.
THANKS TO ALL!
“Many hands make light work.” Well that was the case when it came to our Spaghetti Dinner last
Saturday. We are so grateful to all those in the parish who generously gave donations and baked delicious desserts. To those who gave of their time and energy, especially the Confirmation
students, who were wonderful waiters/waitresses. Special thanks to our “Sauce Makers”, Wendy & Paul Majcher, “Spaghetti Cookers”, Paul Andruskiewicz and Ron Curtis, and
“Meatball Makers”, Nancy Mignault, Bitsy Carlson, and Laura Dougherty. And thank you to those who came out to dinner in support of our Parish. A great time was had by all!

THOUGHTS ON GIVING 6th Sunday of Easter
“…and many paralyzed or crippled people were cured. There was great joy in that city.”Acts 8:7-8
It’s easy to rejoice in the gifts that God gives when they are as outstanding as a lame man walking or a sick man cured. However, do we take time to thank God for the many miracles He
gives us everyday – good health, family, friends, education, employment, housing? Being grateful is the secret to being joyful.

THOUGHTS ON GIVING 5th Sunday of Easter
“Amen, amen I say to you, whoever believes in me will do the work that I do…”John 14:12
You believe in Jesus and you want to do His work, but how can you do the kind of work that He did when you have a full-time job every day? That’s a legitimate concern. However,
when you pledge a portion of your salary to the Church, you are working for God even as you do your regular job.

2008 Annual Bishop’s Appeal- “Bringing Hope To Those In Need”
The 2008 Annual Bishop’s
Appeal will be held in our Parish, and every Parish throughout the Diocese of Norwich, on the weekend of May 3/4, 2008. Just as we are one in the Body of Christ, we must remember that we are one
with other Parishes in our Diocese. Once a year, Bishop Cote asks each of us to make a commitment to support the work of our Diocesan programs and ministries that provide services that no one parish
could provide on its own. This effort is a means by which we can all work together to care for the Church in eastern Connecticut by sharing the gifts God has granted us. Please experience the
joy of giving and join us as we work to continue God’s work of spirituality, charity and education. Together with your support we are improving and expanding upon the ministry of Christ in our
community. Please be as generous as your means allow. Thank you.

PARISH BAPTISM
We welcome
into our parish family Allora Cramer, daughter of Dan & Barbara Cramer, who was baptized March 30th. God’s blessings on this family.
THOUGHTS ON GIVING 4th Sunday of Easter
“But they will not follow a stranger; they will run away from him, because they do not recognize the voice of
strangers.” John 10:5
Do you follow Jesus, the good shepherd, or do you follow a stranger? Before you answer, think about the “strangers” that
Jesus warned us of: Greed? Fame? Riches? Power?
2008 Annual Bishop’s Appeal- “Bringing Hope To Those In Need”
Most parishioners realize that their Annual
Bishop’s Appeal gifts support the hungry, the homeless, the frail and the sick. But your help goes beyond that. Every parishioner at some point has benefited from the ABA. Every Catholic school and
parish faith formation program, like the one here in our parish, receives part of your gift through Diocesan training, support and consultation. Marriage preparation programs, clergy enrichment programs
as well as a host of other human service, spiritual and educational activities exist to provide service through your goodness to this vital campaign. Please consider increasing your ABA gift this year.
Be Christ for others and make a generous pledge to the Annual Bishop’s Appeal. Thank you.
ST. VINCENT De PAUL PLACE
Dear Fr. George & Parishioners, This letter is being sent to you with our sincere gratitude for
your donation of assorted groceries and your continuing support to us throughout the year. St. Catherine’s has been very generous to us in so many ways, so please know that we are very
appreciative of your ongoing care and concern for those who come to St. Vincent De Paul Place for help. You are warmly remembered in our hearts and prayers for your kindness. Sincerely,

THOUGHTS ON GIVING 3rd Sunday of Easter
“You will show
me the path to life, abounding joy in your presence, the delights at your right hand forever.” Psalm 16:11 Jesus has shown us the path to abounding joy. It comes when we give generously
of ourselves. It comes when we love and serve one another. Like the disciples on the road to Emmaus we don’t always recognize Jesus’ way. Or maybe we just try to ignore it?
