Welcome to Our Lady of Good Counsel Guild, of St. Catherine of Siena. The Ladies Guild was formed over 43 years ago when we were just starting out as a Mission Church and
meeting in the Firehouse. The Guild was a primary force in the financial and social beginnings of St. Catherine’s. With our 40 plus members, we hope you find friendship and
fulfillment through service to St. Catherine’s and the community.
Our activities include a potluck dinner in September to plan the year, a Christmas Party in December when we
assemble hygiene kits for the homeless and our annual business meeting in May with the installation of officers, and a speaker. At this time we choose the charities to which we will
distribute our funds raised.
During the year we hold various fundraisers, such as calendar sales, a bake sale and craft items, and solicit the
advertising for the Sunday bulletin. We raise funds in August to purchase sneakers for children at the homeless center to return to school, purchase boots for less fortunate children in
December, and hold clothing drives for the homeless center. Many of our members volunteer at the Soup kitchen.
We also attend wakes and funerals of deceased members and their spouses, and have a mass to Honor Mary and
our past and present members.
In addition to our local activities we also participate in the Norwich District, Diocesan and National Council of
Catholic Women sending a representative to their meetings and conventions. We keep abreast of current issues on Pro-Life, Church Concerns, Legislation, and International affairs through the
Catholic Woman Magazine.
We always welcome new ideas, and hope you will find friends and fulfillment in helping in the Lord’s
work through the Ladies Guild.
