Director of Faith Formation at St. Catherine of Siena Parish
My name is Nancy Mignault and I am the Director of Faith Formation here at St. Catherine of Siena Parish. I have been a lifelong parishioner here at St. Catherine’s.
My purpose as director is to help make the faith of our children and adults in the parish, become living and active through the light of educational instruction. Catechesis is the transmission of
God’s word to invite people to personal faith growth.
My mission statement is very simple: The purpose of the educational programs here at St. Catherine’s is to nourish the children and adults by helping them grow in faith, live in faith and act
in faith, to celebrate and ritualize our faith. It is a lifelong process of conversion.
As director, I assist the pastor in planning liturgies, especially during Advent and Lent. I plan Family Masses throughout the year to include children in the liturgy and music.
I am also Director of Children’s Liturgy of The Word that takes place each weekend at the 10am Mass.
I prepare parents and children for the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation. I am responsible for the Religious Education Program that includes grades K – 10,
consisting of 180 students. I recruit and educate the catechists of the parish who volunteer to teach weekly Religious Education Classes.
With the pastor, I recruit and train Altar Servers, Commentators, Lectors and Greeters for our weekend Masses. It is my responsibility to oversee the parish when the pastor is away.
On the diocesan level I am on the Diocesan Liturgical Commission and am a Confirmation Facilitator at Enders Island, Mystic. I am also a Virtus Facilitator that conducts sexual abuse awareness
sessions for employees, volunteers and parents in the Norwich Diocese. The awareness sessions provide information to the participants on how each can help prevent child sexual abuse.
It is my hope that I help the people of the parish become part of our faith community, not only by revealing the message of Christ, but by allowing all of us to be witnesses to our faith in word and
actions.
In Faith & Friendship,
Nancy
